All Good Things Come to an End
After a tear jerking Evening Program (Vespers, nonetheless), we all sat in Chapel for an extra moment or so, reflecting on what camp meant to each and every one of us. For me (Tajar or not) camp is my place to be freely myself, have an open arena to fail, and have the support system needed to get me back on all four paws after a rough day. Camp has always been that way for me, and 101 years in the making, I’ve loved watching each generation of girls grow into their most confident selves. The best part is watching them transition from middies and ties to green polo shirts and khaki shorts. It says a lot about this place that people come back year after year. I don’t know any place I’d rather be.
Ok, I’m done being emotional. The day, before the tears, was absolutely splendid. For some new fun, Farm and Garden went on a scavenger hunt. One of the tasks was to find an animal, so I laid low for most of the day, careful not to get caught!
The crazy Would-Bes decided to test the limits of buoyancy today by having all 10 of them crouched in a canoe together. Yes, they were able to paddle it. Yes, they ended up sinking. And, yes, I watched in awe as it all unfolded. The best part of the whole ordeal was when their two leaders leaped off the diving board (fully clothed in staff shirts, too) and joined them in the lake. These are the kind of moments you don’t come across twice. And, not to be dramatic or anything, but these are the pictures that will be in the pages of our next Centennial Ripple…and I’m happy to have taken them.
The trip cameras came back today with a boatload of pictures on them! We have caving, the five-day, rivers, and more! I try so hard to get a grasp on those little things, but they continue to escape me! I’m going to put a Tajar tracker on them soon…
As we wrap up this session, I can’t help but feel so grateful for its many blessings: new friendships, new opportunities, new challenges, and new beginnings. I can’t wait to see this week’s performances, and I continue to stay amazed at the wondrous accomplishments that a few girls in middies and ties can do. Boo Whoop to that, am I right?
Enjoy your night and check out TODAY’S PICTURES HERE!
Sniffling,
Tajar
