Fun and Games in Green and Grey
Today, I spent quite a bit of time down at the Nature Nook as lots of exciting activities were going on. First, the Earthworks class learned how to build a low-impact fire so that their campouts and other wilderness adventures could be that much more exciting and informed. Then, the Farm and Garden class collected the eggs from the chickens and learned more about their feathered friends. Just yesterday, the caterpillars arrived and we also took a peek at their progress as well. I also caught up with Landsports as they were finishing up a riveting game of Pirate Ball and waved at the 2-day hikers that just returned to camp!
After lunch and a clean cabin ice cream party, I visited Stagecraft, where the campers were hard at work on the set for The Wind in the Willows. The show is well underway as today was off-book day for Act I! This means that the session is almost halfway through, which is saddening, but exhilarating as well—now we know we only have so much time to appreciate all being together. I also stopped by the low ropes course, where a cabin was having fun playing around and working as a team to get through the course. Tonight’s evening program was PYSK, or Page, Yeomen, Squires, and Knights, the different age groups that break up and do fun activities together. Tonight, the Pages got to listen to Tajar Tales in the library of the newly renovated Tajar building. The Yeomen played Slip-N-Slide kickball down at the Archery Field. While all this was going on, the Squires and Knights were performing their best Karaoke songs on the new stage in Castle. All in all, it was a long, fun, and rewarding day.
Wishing you a good night,
Tajar
