Nothing could be finer…
This morning I awoke to the sound of the bell and the chatter of campers. Everyone was very excited for the first day of activities! I stopped by the Weaving Hut to see girls preparing their looms; some were even sanding stools and chairs that they will be working on this session! I then stopped in on a Zumba class before swinging down to Lake Fairfield. There, I found girls learning to rig sailboats and paddle canoes and kayaks! At the Swim Dock, they were having a lake party! Campers who may have been nervous during yesterday’s Swim Evaluation were learning to love Lake Fairfield just as much as I do; I found them goofing around with noodles and pool floats. After taking a little nap in the trees during Rest Hour, I visited King Arthur’s Court, where Mountaineering Staff had been teaching the girls how to climb. The Pages and Yeomen had an opportunity to climb the wall this morning, and the Knights and Squires had their turn in the afternoon. While I was already nearby, I visited a tennis class where the girls were learning basic serves and playing a fun game called Queen of the Court. When it came time for Evening Program, the girls excitedly gathered in Castle for Deck the Counselor, where each cabin dressed up and performed a fun skit together! We have such a creative crew this summer, and I could see the cabins bonding over their silly songs and dances!
