TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALLGAME
The sun shone brightly on camp before the bell rang this morning, and everyone was quick to jump out of bed to celebrate the beautiful day underneath Old Bald! I scurried down to the docks to examine the canoe trailer packed out of the river trip; I heard they would be exploring the nationally recognized Wild and Scenic Chattooga River. I have only been to the Chattooga once, and I enjoyed it very much. I decided to go see what was happening in archery and landsports since the sun was glistening over the lake. The girls were shooting targets that varied in distance. While I was watching from the roof of the archery hut, I could see the girls cheering after they shot their first bullseyes of the session. In landsports, in celebration of the World Cup, the girls supported various countries while playing intense games of soccer.
This summer, the theatre program is putting “The Little Shop of Horrors” on the Castle stage! I went to Castle to see the drama staff directing the campers through the first act of the musical. Songs were being rehearsed and lines memorized throughout the afternoon. I am already looking forward to opening night later in the session to see the final production! Since the sun continued to shine in the afternoon, I made my way up to the tennis courts to see the girls practicing forehands, backhands, volleys, and serves. I even overheard some girls were practicing for the camper/counselor tennis tournament that should start up soon!
Tonight, everyone gathered to participate in a humongous kickball tournament. The camp divided into the four age groups, and each cabin has a unique theme. The campers and counselors were extremely enthusiastic the whole night. After all of the games, the entire camp circled up for Taps, and campers and counselors made their way back to cabins to fall asleep after a fun and beautiful day under Old Bald.
All is well, safely rest.
