IT’S A GREAT DAY FOR THE RACE!
Today, the camp hosted the traditional Swim and Boat Meet! The girls went to their regular activities this morning, but after Rest Hour, we all made our way down to the docks. Campers were divided into two teams – green and gray. I cheered from over the lake in a high tree as the girls swam all different events and raced in fun boating relays. A couple of my favorite events were kayaking with a canoe paddle and the counselor noodle swimming relay. Campers and counselors sat on the dock with the sun shining and I heard laughter echoing all the way up from my viewing spot. The team captains, the oldest campers, cheered on their teams to victory. In the end, the gray team had the most points. At the end as the campers were dashing to go shower, I decided to cannonball into the lake and shout out a big “boo-woop!” (Maybe they will make that a real event one day.)
Tonight’s evening program was Song and Commercial Night, which I always love! The girls and their counselors got a chance to write their own songs about camp or mimic a favorite commercial. I was amazed by the wonderful songs written about my home and it reminded me how much this place is treasured by all. After an inspiring evening program, I scampered up Old Bald to help Jim play Taps in anticipation of a wonderful Sunday!
After a busy week around camp, it will be so delightful to have an extra few minutes of sleep in the morning. The buzz around camp is that it is going to be a big day!
Off to go frolic with the camp fairies,
