DANCES WITH WOLVES
This morning, I woke up to a beautiful and glassy Lake Fairfield. As I looked off into the distance, I saw dark green canoes heading towards the docks. I realized that these canoes were coming back from campouts, which is something that every cabin participates in at least once during the session. I have even dropped in on a few to snatch a s’more or two! These are wonderful bonding experiences for the cabins, and I love hearing the giggles of the campers when I am up in the treetops. As activities started, I stopped by the Weaving Hut and saw girls meticulously finishing their projects, which range from pillows to rocking chairs. As I made my way down to the Nature Nook, I saw these massive, furry creatures. Of course I had to go see these animals that were even furrier than me. To my surprise, it was wolves! Nature invited the Wolf Man to come and teach the girls about the wolves, their habitats, and their surprisingly gentle mannerisms. As the wolves rolled over to have their tummies rubbed, I spectated in awe and envy. Tajars like their bellies rubbed, too!
After a lovely rest hour, it heated up enough that I decided to take a dip in the lake. I’m a pretty great swimmer because of my tucks, but I really wanted to try out the butterfly stroke. When I went down to the lake, laughter and music echoed throughout the valley. Canoes, kayaks, and sailboats covered the lake, and I caught the swimmers perfecting their synchronized swimming routine for final shows on Saturday. As the day winded down, the paddlers from the overnight river made their way back into camp, and from what I could hear, they had a ton of fun! As the day ended, the campers and counselors gathered in their pajamas and made their way to castle to watch the Disney hit, “Monsters University.” Everyone was so excited to watch the prequel to “Monsters Inc.,” and laughter rumbled throughout Castle. I was watching from a new spot in the rafters tonight and was worried that the campers might hear me. Luckily, I was able to muffle my chuckles by eating loads of movie-style popcorn! I snagged a few extra boxes to share with my bullfrog friends as they serenade me to sleep.
Chug-a-wump!
