AND HERE WE’D LIKE TO STAY FOR GOOD
It was another folly filled day here at camp! As I sat in the rafters this evening, the smell of popcorn wafted through Castle. “The Lego Movie” was shown for Movie Night, and the message that everyone is special in their own way was a fantastic take-away for camp.
I woke up early to send off the first river trip of the session. Those girls in funny hats (honey bees? wood bees? would-bes?) paddled canoes down the Tuck Gorge. After waving them off through the gates, I sped up to Castle to find out what all was going on at camp today. Mountaineering offered a full day hiking trip, a climbing trip to Snakes, low ropes, and high ropes today. Obviously, I had to remotely participate in high ropes—who can resist playing in the trees?
Though I wish I could have joined them on all of the other adventures, I chose to check on activities for the other half of my day. Down at the docks, the staff held a river safety course for girls who want to go on whitewater paddling trips later in the summer. While I was down by the water, I watched as the sailboats bee bop around the lake. Campers were learning the basics of rigging and capsizing.
Speaking of boats, I sat near the docks during bag supper tonight. After I snatched a PB&J, I sat with some campers and listened to them guess which movie they thought would be played. Even me, the sneakiest creature of all, did not know the movie selection for tonight’s evening program until the beginning credits started to play.
The soft patter of rain on the Castle roof has me ready for bed. Off to the tallest pine!
