Sit Down, John!
Wow. Okay, so Tajar finally got to see the play and because of that, this post is a tad later than usual, and for that I am sorry! I am so full of joy. Being Tajar means I’m lucky enough to sit in on dress rehearsals and photo calls, but it still blows me away to see the final production. In addition to taking photos and blogging, I am also a cabin counselor. Two of my campers had lead roles, one of my campers was on Running Crew, and my own sister was the head of Stage Left…that being said, I am both emotional and overjoyed with how astonishing the night turned out. The Tajar tears were most definitely prominent, but I blotted them with my Tajar tissues and kept my stage face on. Ha!
The play brought me back to 1776. While, yes, this was a little bit before my time, it felt so real. I felt connected with the girls…ahem, founding fathers…and their energy and struggles were conveyed through their magnificent acting. The stage lights, props, set and music all contributed to the at times tense atmosphere, but also, to the inexplicable sense of a foreboding challenge. Also, their costumes were frilly in all the right places. Dang, a lot goes in to starting a nation, huh?
Anyway, the rest of today was equally as amazing. We had a Farm and Garden field trip to a local farm, a canoe river trip, and the usual on-campus shenanigans. Today was the last Monday/Wednesday/Friday class of the session, so girls put the pedal to the metal and cranked out their finished projects in all of their classes. The final products in Ceramics and Stained Glass look outstanding, especially since they’ve been fired in the kiln and now they’re all shiny!
The cabins of Bum’s Rest and Camelot decorated the dining hall today as a prank. They chose “Welcome to Disney World” as the theme and it was truly magical. We ate breakfast to the soundtracks of “Frozen,” “Beauty and the Beast,” and “Mulan.” I personally can’t think of a better way to start my morning!
Also, did I mention it was a brisk 50 something degrees this morning? I don’t have my winter coat on right now, so even I felt the effects of the chill!
Bundle up! But before you go, check out TODAY’S PHOTOS HERE! They’re going to take a little while to load…
Curtains closing,
Tajar
