Merry Christmas in July!
We woke up and the Christmas spirit was ever present and strong in camp today! As tradition entails, July 25th is a day of celebration at camp. We dress in our greens and reds and embody the happiness that comes with the treasured holiday. We even had a naughty and nice list…for some reason I was on the naughty list? I’ll let you know if I ever figure out why!
Today was the last pizza day of the session. To make the most of it, I may or may not have eaten six slices. I burn a lot of calories running around after campers, though. So it’s justified. Ha!
The last day of any camp activities was today. And that made us sad! But, we’re also going out with a bang! The Art Show was fabulous (as expected) and campers submitted their finest work from the summer. From knitting projects, to stained glass, to photos, and to jewelry, the pieces were magnificent. Going to the Art Show always makes me want to tag along and attend these really great activities so that maybe one day I, too, can make something that cool!
Tonight’s Evening Program was Closing Camp Fire. There are both happy and sad things that come along with nights like this, but we try to always make the most of them. Girls got their Merrie-Woode bracelets tonight and the new bling sure looks really pretty reflecting the light of the campfire. Did I mention that Tajar also got some new bling? They fitted it to my paw, and I couldn’t be happier to finally be a true Merrie-Woode gal. And yes, I really did get my bracelet tonight (along with three of my campers) so I’m over the moon with joy!
We also had Mountaineering’s last hoorah today. They did Mountain Mania which entails a day of strictly fun activities down at the Waterfall Field and the docks. Speaking of fun activities, in Earthworks, they built a fire and cooked s’mores on it! Talk about a delicious mid-day snack.
To quote the master carpenter, “the best part of construction is deconstruction.” That being said, the girls in the play took hammers to the set like there’s no tomorrow. They sure got a kick out of destroying (ahem, deconstructing) their set. It was also fun to watch!
We’re busy over here preparing to wrap up an awesome session. Between making sure everyone gets packed, performing final shows, and finishing program requirements, the girls here are happy, but tired campers! Who can blame them?
That’s all for today! Don’t forget to check out TODAY’S PHOTOS HERE!
Jingle all the way,
Tajar
