Furry Friends and Dancing Trends
This morning, we had some extra special visitors on the shores of Lake Fairfield—the llamas paid Merrie Woode a visit today and the Farm and Garden classes gave them a lovely little tour around camp. It was so funny to see them all run across the Landsports field in a race to the finish line—did you know that a llama can reach a top speed of 35 mph? They may not have been going that fast next to the campers, but they were sure flying. After all of the fun with my furry friends, I hopped up to the Dance Studio to peek into the dance classes. Tap was having a blast using their feet to tap out a rhythm, while Contemporary was moving and grooving to the song they’ve chosen for their Castle Revue performance in a few days.
In the afternoon, I stopped by the Sewing Studio to see what all of the seamstresses have been working on. The embroidered pillows and headbands are quite a sight to behold! After I was blown away by the sewing projects, I took a turn around camp and stopped in on the Bang Shop to inspect the jewelers’ progress. The campers were making beautiful copper wire rings with inset beads and stones and earrings with tassels.
Tonight’s Evening Program was Captain Rainbow, our favorite mime, dancer, juggler, and performer extraordinaire. Together, the campers who he brought onstage to help him out, built a giant balloonalofagus, which could take the campers anywhere they wanted to go simply using the power of creativity. The night ended with a huge dance party, and I wouldn’t be exaggerating if I said that there wasn’t a camper, counselor, or member of Senior Staff that didn’t join the conga line or try out some new moves in Castle tonight.
Bustin a move,
