Stand by Me
I awoke to the chatter and clatter of a river trip loading up this morning! Nine girls paddled the French Broad today! I was so proud of the strength and courage it took to leave the comfort zone of camp and go on a fresh new adventure. I heard it was amazing!
After waving goodbye to our river paddlers, I scurried up to Castle to find the Glee Club preparing a beautiful performance. It sounds beautiful! I stuck around afterward to see the campers in Musical Theater work on their piece. I can’t wait to see both classes perform at tomorrow night’s Evening Program, “The Castle Review.”
I was skipping through camp when I spotted some of my horse friends! Campers were taking them on a trail ride through camp and onto the Lake Trail. It looked like quite a lot of fun! Then I headed over to Ceramics, where everyone was glazing their pieces. There are some beautiful pinch pots and other creations that I am sure campers will be excited to show off at home.
To cool off in the afternoon, I visited Water Games, where I played some Marco Polo in Lake Fairfield! That’s when I noticed we had another guest teaching a class this afternoon: Hooping! A guest teacher brought supplies to teach campers how to assemble and decorate their own hula hoops! I saw some fabulous creations.
Tonight’s Evening Program was a camp favorite: Captain Rainbow! He does an incredible show that involves miming, juggling, skits, fire eating, and balloon creations. Campers even have opportunities to participate in the show! As per tradition, the performance is followed by a huge dance party complete with balloon hats for all! It was a phenomenal night!
Still dancing in the moonlight,
Tajar

P.S. I do my best to make it to all of the activities in order to take pictures of all the girls, but sometimes we miss some. Some of the girls can be a bit camera shy and not as aggressive about getting in front of the camera. If your daughter has been camera shy or missing from the photo album, e-mail me at intern@merriewoode.com and I’ll try to track her down and snap a picture or two. I hope you are enjoying the pictures. I enjoy taking them and posting them for you to view.
