NOTHING COULD BE FINER
At 8:00 this morning, I heard the wake up bell all the way from the top of Old Bald. I keep forgetting that campers are finally here! I swung down by the branches of the hemlock trees just in time to see the grey middies and green ties head off to breakfast. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky as the first day of activities commenced. I jumped all around camp to see girls swimming in the lake, running around on the landsports field, and starting arts and crafts projects. I even witnessed campers practicing their climbing skills on the rock wall. With any luck and a few tricks, those budding mountaineers will soon be ready to take death defying life leaps through the forest with me! This evening, I swung by castle to see everyone gathered for Deck the Counselor. I even made a surprise appearance in the evening program, but of course, the campers and staff forgot what I looked like. Deck the Counselor is a traditional evening program during which cabins perform fun, weird and wacky skits for the entire camp. The audience continued to laugh until Taps was sung. What a lively day it was!
Just a few more jokes, and I am off to bed!
