LLAMA MAMA
What an eventful day under beautiful Old Bald and on Lake Fairfield! I thought I was in a dream when the rumble of a camp van rolled down the road. I later found out that these were some extremely enthusiastic mountaineers heading to Worley’s Cave! I have never been in a cave before, but I think that it could be a perfect playground for an animated Tajar like myself! At camp, the weather was beautiful. So, I crept down to the waterfall field, and lo and behold, I spotted nine large fuzzy animals. As I got closer, I noticed they were llamas! Of course, I had to stay and watch as campers frolicked with them around campus. The nature classes spent time learning about llama habitats and some of their closest relatives. It’s quite possible that we might have a relation due to the fuzzy coat that we both share…
Speaking of fuzzy, the Merrie-Woode community has acquired a family of geese on the lake. The rumor is that two baby goslings have captured the hearts of campers, counselors and senior staff! I haven’t gotten to meet the family personally, but I am hoping that I can receive some swimming lessons from them in the near future. Later in the afternoon, the mountaineering staff offered slacklining (which is a smaller and lower to the ground version of tightrope walking) and a climb up the boat house chimney! I never thought about climbing the boat house chimney, but after seeing the campers do it, I might have to try that when no one is watching. Tonight, the campers didn’t have supper in the dining hall but were instead scattered around the front line and boat house for bag supper, where the campers can make sandwiches and picnic with friends. Movie night was on the agenda for evening program, so of course, I decided to sneak in and watch from my usual spot of the rafters. I was even able to snatch a box of popcorn. All of the girls were relaxing in their pajamas and brought blankets as they watched Disney’s mega-hit Frozen. After a day with so many activities in and out of camp, movie night was a perfect way for the campers and counselors to relax and lead into a good night of sleep.
Off to build a snowman,
