Merrie Christmas
We are in the Christmas spirit here at Camp Merrie-Woode! Friday was our annual Staff Christmas Party and the evening was filled with good food and good fun. We started the night at Jim and Denice’s house for hors d’oevres and holiday treats. The most popular guy at the party was Betsy and Josh’s newborn, Owen! At just 4 weeks old, he is quite the charmer! When it was time to head out for dinner, Denice poured mugs of hot chocolate for everyone to ride down the camp road in our traditional Merrie-Woode Christmas float. Decked with sparkling lights, evergreen boughs, a decorated Christmas tree, and hooked up to the back of the tractor, Jim drove us out to the Gamekeeper’s Tavern at the end of the camp road, across Highway 64. The local patrons of the restaurant have grown accustomed to seeing the Merrie-Woode staff arrive each year in grand style! We enjoyed a wonderful dinner before parading back down the camp road, singing Christmas carols all the way! On our way back to the Dunn’s house, we decided to stop at Pearly Gates to regale Betsy and Josh (who had stayed home with Owen) with our beautiful caroling. The joke was on us, however, when after several Christmas songs we realized they weren’t home, but waiting to surprise us back at the Dunn’s house for dessert and the opening of Christmas presents! All in all, it was a great night filled with laughter and holiday cheer! To all of our Merrie-Woode family, near and far, we wish you a happy and safe holiday season surrounded by family and friends! Merrie Christmas, everyone!
